Effective date: October 5, 2026
KidsPod is a listening app made for kids, and we take that responsibility seriously. This policy explains what information KidsPod Co. (“KidsPod,” “we,” “us”) collects through the KidsPod app, our website (kidspod.app), and our emails, and how we use and protect it.
If you have questions, email us at privacy@kidspod.app.
The short version
- Only adults can create KidsPod accounts. We never ask children for personal information.
- We collect as little as we can about your child, and only what you choose to enter in their profile.
- We never sell personal information or show targeted ads.
- You can review or delete your child’s information at any time.
1. Children’s privacy
KidsPod is designed for children, so we follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Accounts are for parents and guardians. Only an adult can create a KidsPod account. If we learn that a child created an account, we will close it and delete the information.
What we collect about your child, from you. When you set up a child profile, you may enter:
- A first name or nickname
- An age or age range
- Interests or an avatar choice
As your child listens, the app also records listening activity (such as episodes played, favorites, playlists, and downloads) and basic device information (such as device type, app version, IP address, and app-generated identifiers). We use this only to run the app: saving progress, recommending age-appropriate shows, sending notifications you’ve allowed, fixing bugs, and understanding which features work.
What we don’t collect. We do not collect a child’s last name, photo, voice, contact information, or precise location. Kids can’t post, chat, message, or share information with anyone in the app.
How we share it. We never sell children’s information or use it to target ads. We share it only with the service providers listed in Section 5, who help us run the app and may use it only to provide those services to us. We will not share your child’s information with any other third party without first asking for your consent.
Podcasts and the ads in them. KidsPod doesn’t show ads. Podcasts in the app come from independent producers, and some include their own ads or sponsor messages, just as they would on any podcast app. We don’t sell or place those ads.
To play an episode, the app requests the audio file directly from the producer’s podcast hosting service. Like any website, that service receives basic technical information, such as the device’s IP address, in order to deliver the file. Some hosting services use this information to choose which ads play in an episode. Many podcast hosting services follow children’s privacy rules, and we are working toward requiring this for every show on KidsPod. Until then, we can’t guarantee how each hosting service handles this information. We never send podcast producers or their hosting services your child’s name, age, or profile information. You can choose which shows your child listens to, and you can contact us with any questions.
Your rights as a parent. At any time, you can:
- Review the information in your child’s profile
- Change or delete it
- Ask us to delete your child’s information entirely and stop collecting it
To make a request, email privacy@kidspod.app. We’ll verify that you’re the account holder before making changes.
How long we keep it. We keep your child’s information only while your account is active and it’s needed to provide KidsPod. When you delete a profile or your account, or ask us to delete your child’s information, we delete it within 30 days. Copies in secure backups are overwritten on a regular schedule. We don’t keep children’s information for any other purpose.
2. Schools and libraries
When a school or library offers KidsPod, the school or library is the account holder. We collect only what’s needed to provide the service and report aggregate usage (for example, total listening time). We don’t collect individual student records. We use school and library information only to provide KidsPod to that institution and as described in our agreement with them.
3. Information we collect from adults
- Parents and subscribers: name, email address, account login details, and subscription status. Payments are handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We don’t receive your card number.
- Educators: when you request free classroom access, we collect your name, school email, role, grades taught, school name, and country and state. If you opt in, we also use your email for classroom ideas and updates.
- Website visitors: basic technical information, such as browser type, pages visited, and general location (country or region) based on IP address.
- Anyone who contacts us: whatever you include in your message.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve KidsPod
- Manage accounts and subscriptions
- Send account messages and notifications, such as receipts, educator codes, and important updates
- Send marketing emails to adults who sign up for them (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- Understand which of our marketing to adults leads people to KidsPod
- Keep KidsPod secure and prevent fraud
- Meet legal requirements
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run KidsPod, and only for that purpose:
- Amazon Web Services: app hosting and data storage
- Firebase (Google): app analytics and crash reports
- AppsFlyer: measuring which of our marketing to adults, such as app store ads and affiliate links, leads to app downloads and subscriptions
- OneSignal: push notifications
- RevenueCat: subscription management
- Apple App Store and Google Play: app downloads and subscription payments
- Podcast hosting services: delivering episode audio (see Section 1)
- Hostinger: website hosting, forms, and email
- Google Workspace: our business email
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users, or as part of a merger or sale of the company. In that case, the new owner would have to follow this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
6. Cookies
Our website uses a small number of cookies to work properly and to understand how many people visit. We don’t use advertising cookies. You can block cookies in your browser settings. The KidsPod app doesn’t use cookies.
7. How we protect information
We have a written information security program. We limit who can access personal information, encrypt data in transit, and require our service providers to protect it too. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your family’s information, and we will notify you as required by law if a breach affects you.
8. Your choices and rights
Anyone can ask us to access, correct, or delete their personal information by emailing privacy@kidspod.app. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in any email, and you can turn off push notifications in your device settings. Depending on where you live (for example, certain U.S. states, the EU, or the UK), you may have additional rights under local law. We’ll respond to requests as those laws require.
9. International users
KidsPod is based in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the U.S. If you use KidsPod from another country, your information will be transferred to the U.S.
10. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the effective date above. If we make a significant change, we’ll notify account holders by email or in the app. We’ll ask for your consent before using children’s information in any new way.
